Job Description
The role:
GMHBA is on a data-driven journey to enhance business intelligence and analytics across the organisation. As a Senior Data Engineer you will design, build, and maintain scalable data solutions that transform raw information into actionable insights. You’ll work with Azure cloud environments, manage complex data feeds, and ensure data integrity and quality, while partnering with stakeholders to deliver timely reporting and analytics that drive decision-making. This role offers the chance to contribute to meaningful business change, support compliance and audit processes, and strengthen GMHBA’s data capabilities across the organisation.
This is a full time, 6 month fixed term contract. We offer hybrid working with the option to work from home 3 days per week.
Desired Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate:
5+ years’ experience in SQL development and data engineering roles, with tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience with Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure SQL Managed Instance/DB.
Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, warehouse automation, data modelling (Kimball, Dimensional, Relational), and SQL-based solutions including stored procedures and analytical data marts.
Strong understanding of data governance, integrity, quality, and advanced techniques such as CDC, watermarking, and SCD.
Experience providing technical advice to stakeholders, supporting regulatory compliance, reporting, and contributing to business change initiatives.
