About the opportunity:

GMHBA has an ambitious vision over the next ten years to move from being a private health insurer with health businesses to an integrated care company that prioritises seamless customer experience.  We are currently on a digital transformation journey that supports our vision of becoming Australia's leading regional based health fund.

The Project Office Lead will be responsible for establishing and maintaining project management standards, governance and reporting. You will oversee program performance, ensure that projects deliver strategic outcomes, and support our teams in achieving measurable business impact.

As a senior leader within the project team, you will report to the Program Director and play a vital role in ensuring successful business transformation.

2-year fixed term contract starting ASAP. 

You will:

  • Lead the development and implementation of project office frameworks, policies, and standards.
  • Manage program governance and reporting, providing clear visibility of progress, risks, and outcomes to Executives and the Board.
  • Partner with project managers and stakeholders to optimise delivery, prioritise resources, and ensure alignment with business strategy.
  • Monitor and evaluate project and portfolio performance, driving continuous improvement and benefits realisation.
  • Support cultural change by embedding best-practice project management, mentoring teams, and fostering delivery excellence.

Desired Skills and Experience

About you:

  • Proven experience as a PMO Manager (or in a similar role), that supports business strategy.
  • A degree in Project Management, IT or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of industry best practices and project management methodologies / tools.
  • Previous experience working in complex multi-vendor environments.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of project management - planning, coordination, monitoring and execution skills; waterfall methodology and agile methodology experience; PMP certification is an asset.

Highly desirable

  • Completion of the Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is required.
